Messy bun hair pieces – how to choose
A messy bun hair piece is a scrunchie with hair extensions that you slip around your own bun. In under a minute you get a full messy bun or an elegant updo – no tape, glue or salon visit needed. All our scrunchies are designed by hairdressers.
Which hair piece is right for you?
- Tangled Scrunchie – curly hair extension scrunchie for a full, tousled messy bun. 8 cm of curly hair, 35 grams – our lightest and best-selling model.
- Tangled Straight Scrunchie – straight hair extension scrunchie for a smoother, sleek bun. 16 cm of straight hair, 80 grams.
- Tangled Scrunchie Luxe Length – extra-long hair for a bigger bun or a loose bun that hangs down. 16 cm of curly hair, 60 grams.
- Tangled Wildbun – a relaxed, deliberately undone look for a wild messy bun. 16 cm of curly and straight hair, 45 grams.
How to put on a messy bun hair piece
- Make a ponytail where you want the bun – high for a messy bun, low for an elegant updo.
- Twist the hair into a bun and secure it with a thin hair tie.
- Slip the hair piece around the bun like a regular scrunchie, and loop it twice if it feels loose.
- Pull the hair apart with your fingers so it blends with your own.

Which shade should I choose?
Match it to the lengths of your hair in daylight. Between two shades? Choose the lighter one – it gives a beautiful ombre effect. If you have highlights, choose a blended shade. Not sure? Send us a photo via contact us and our hairdressers will help you.
Does a messy bun hair piece work on thin hair?
Yes – it adds exactly the volume thin hair lacks. Choose a lightweight model: Tangled Scrunchie weighs just 35 grams. Make a firm bun first and secure it with a couple of bobby pins. If you'd rather have a ponytail, Mini Ponyo is designed for thin hair. Read more in our guide to extensions for thin hair.
How long does my hair need to be?
You need to be able to gather your hair into a small bun. Shoulder-length hair is often enough.
Will it stay in all day?
Yes, as long as the bun underneath is firm. A couple of bobby pins keep it in place even when you work out.
How do I care for my hair piece?
Gently detangle with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb, wash when needed with a mild shampoo and let it air dry. The fibre tolerates heat up to 160 °C, so you can curl or straighten it on a low setting. Don't sleep in it, and store it in a bag.
Can I return it if the shade isn't right?
Yes, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal on unused products. Read more under cancel your purchase.
